Former CIDJAP director, Rev. Fr. Dr. Anieke Chinedu Odinkemelu and the CIDJAP staff organized a formal launching of 8 books published in CIDJAP. These are books that expanciate on topics related to the CIDJAP. One of the books, the merits of the social teachings of the Church dwelt directly on what CIDJAP is known for: the social teachings of the Church. As an institution for Development, Justice and Peace CIDJAP propagate, promote and put into practice the social teachings of the Church. Other books include: the Legal Consequences of Igbo Customary and Canonical Laws on Marriage and Family Institution; Obiora Ike in his own words; Integral development, ethics, governance, and human rights in the African context etc.
Among the many dignitaries who graced the occasion were the executive governor of Enugu state, His Excellency Honourable Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi; the former governor of Anambra state, his Excellency Mr. Peter Obi and the former governor of old Anambra state, chief senator Jim Ifeanyichuckwu Nwobodo and wife. Others include the chairman traditional rulers Enugu state and the former ambassador of Nigeria H.R.H Igwe Agubuzu Lawrence and Chief Pet Edochie of Nollywood etc.
Governor Ugwuanyi who stayed briefly at the launching because of his busy schedules congratulated the new director of CIDJAP Fr. Chnedu Odinekemlu Anieke for the books published and said he came to encourage CIDJAP in the various social, legal and charitable works with which it is known. The former governor of Anambra state, Mr. Peter Obi did the unveiling of the books before doing his own launching. Mr. Obi said that he learnt a lot during his tenure in office as governor. He said that the work done by CIDJAP is of a great assistance to any government, which in actual fact undertakes and executes projects that should be government responsibility. This is why he thinks that government cannot neglect CIDJAP but should support and encourages her. The governor on the political situation in Nigeria regretted that the cost of governance in the country is too high. He said that if government could bring down the cost of governance in Nigeria that there will be enough money for everybody in the country and that this can help stabilize the economy of the country. The former governor of old Anambra state, Senator Jim Nwobod who was the chairman of the occasion in his speech regreted the fact that past governors like himself are forgoten in the cost of governance. He complained that since he retired as a governor, he has never received pension from the government. Chief Jim Nwobod however, encouraged the new director of CIDJAP in the work he is doing and pledges his continued support for CIDJAP. Jim on political power advised anybody who is in government to be careful not to allow his head to swell. He said that power is a very transient condition of life. It come and passes away very fast but if one is not careful, one will end up crashing out of power and in shame.
