CIDJAP Children Christmas Party Report

Introduction:
On the 12th of November, 2023, the Catholic Institute for Development Justice and Peace (CIDJAP) an institution founded by Msgr. Prof. Obiora Ike hosted a vibrant and joyous Christmas party for children. The event took place at the Ofuobi Africa Centre, and the agenda was filled with entertaining and engaging activities for children of various age groups.

Agenda:

  1. Opening Prayer by Rev. Fr. Paul Chidiebere Ani: The event commenced with a solemn opening prayer led by Reverend Father Paul Chidiebere Ani the Deputy Director of CIDJAP, setting a spiritual tone for the festive occasion.
  2. Brief Introduction by Dr. Ebele Odinachi: Dr. Ebele Odinachi, a key figure in CIDJAP, provided a brief and warm introduction to welcome Meggy and all other attendees, emphasizing the importance of community celebration and thanked Msgr. Prof. Obiora for making the event come to reality.
  3. Presentation of the Kolanut by Rev. Fr. Chidiebere Ani: Following the introduction, Reverend Father Chidiebere Ani presented and prayed on the Kolanut, a traditional symbol of unity and respect, marking the beginning of the celebration.
  4. Welcome Speech by Rev. Fr. Chidiebere Ani: Rev. Fr. Chidiebere Ani delivered a heartwarming welcome speech, expressing gratitude for the presence of Meggy and her team, the children and their parents. He highlighted the significance of coming together to celebrate the joy of Christmas.
  5. Dance with Meggy and the Children: Meggy, a talented and energetic dancer, led the children in a lively dance, filling the atmosphere with infectious joy and laughter.
  6. Footprints for Children Ages 3-5 Years: An engaging activity titled “Footprints” was organized for the younger children, aged 3 to 5 years, encouraging creativity and expression.
  7. Essay Competition for Grown-Up Children: The older children participated in an essay competition, showcasing their writing skills and creativity. The topics likely centered around “What I want to be when I grow up”
  8. Drawing by the Smaller Kids: Meanwhile, the smaller kids unleashed their artistic talents through a drawing activity, creating colorful and imaginative masterpieces.
  9. Presentation of Gifts to Winners: Winners of the essay competition and drawing activity were acknowledged and awarded prizes, fostering a sense of accomplishment and motivation.
  10. Dance Competition by the Children: A thrilling dance competition allowed the children to showcase their dance moves, adding an element of friendly competition to the celebration. Winners of the dance competitions were presented with prizes by Meggy and her team.
  11. Dance with Meggy and the Parents: Meggy continued to spread the joy by involving the parents in a dance, creating a delightful atmosphere of unity and togetherness.
  12. Response from Parents and Children: Parents and children shared their thoughts and experiences, expressing gratitude for the event and highlighting the positive impact on the community. One of the children said she can’t wait for 2024 CIDJAP children party.
