About Small Projects Fund

Established in 1988, the Small Projects Funds function to;

  • Give economic empowerment through access to credit to poor men, women and youths.
  • Provide credit revolving culture and savings among people in the community.
  • Enhance poverty alleviation efforts by encouraging individual for self-help and sustainable projects, livelihoods and businesses.
  • Provide community based and church institutions and groups with emergency aids.
  • To support priests, the religious and others that facilitate grassroots development programmes.

The SPF has managed a revolving loan fund of more than one hundred million naira accessed by more than twelve thousand persons, cooperative soceities and groups in the urban and rural areas with outreach to morethan five hundred thousand people, accomplishing more than seven hundred projects in more than three hundred communities.

A member of the World Summit on Micro credit, Washington, USA, the CIDJAP SPF in year 2001, through the UNDP/Enugu State Government, solely disbursed N600m micro credit facility to communities in Enugu State as well as a N20m loan from a commercial bank.

The SPF has over the years empowered and assited its beneficiaries through funds and training on self-employed businesses, savings culture and self help initiatives.

Funding for the SPF is generated from the following sources;

  • Misereor, Germany
  • BKU, Germany
  • Swisshand Foundation, Switzerland
  • Subventions from the Catholic Diocese of Enugu
  • Dividends from shares
  • Banks and Micro finance Institutions
