Report on the Visit of the Zonal Director of the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), Engr. Dr. Ngozi Okelekwe to Vocational Technical Training Centre – Olu Aka Di Mma, Enugu
On 22nd July 2025, the Zonal Director of the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), Engr. Dr. Ngozi Okelekwe, paid an official visit to the Vocational Technical Training Centre (VTTC), Olu Aka Di Mma, Enugu. She was accompanied by two senior personnel from the board.
The visit followed earlier engagements with our President, Msgr. Prof. Obiora Francis Ike, and formed part of the NBTE’s ongoing process of assessing the centre’s compliance with national standards. The NBTE is the key regulatory body in Nigeria responsible for accrediting and certifying vocational and technical institutions. This milestone visit, therefore, represents a significant step toward the full accreditation of VTTC and the certification of its programmes.
As a follow-up, the management of VTTC has formally written to the NBTE requesting another scheduled visit that will pave the way for the commencement of the accreditation and certification process.

The visiting team also made recommendations to further strengthen the centre:

Recruitment of additional qualified trainers in specific areas of shortage.

Upgrading and procurement of modern training equipment, as well as reinforcing safety and first-aid facilities.

Continuous professional development for staff through workshops and refresher courses.
Conclusion:
In their closing remarks, the NBTE representatives expressed satisfaction with the overall operations of VTTC. While highlighting areas requiring improvement, they affirmed that the report of this visit would play a significant role in shaping the decision to pursue the centre’s proper accreditation.
