Orphanages

About Orphanages

CIDJAP coordinates the activities of two orphanages operated by the Catholic Diocese of Enugu, namely, the Guardian Angel Motherless Babies Home Emene, Enugu and the Motherless Babies Home Ogui, Enugu.

The two homes to date have over one hundred babies whose affairs are overseen by the Sister of the Mother of Mercy (DMMM) congregation. Children raised at the homes enjoy the options of reuniting and living with their relatives or get adopted.

During year 2007, fifteen newborn motherless children were admitted at the Guardian Angels MotherlessBabies (GAMB), Home, Emene, Enugu. The new admissions brings the number of children at Home to fifty as at 2007.

The Holy Child Motherless Babies Home located at Holy Ghost Cathedral houses over eighty children.

The two Orphanages in their campaign to protect the life of unborn children hold counseling sessions for teenage pregnant girls. Medications are provided by the Homes for the children in the fight against childhood killer diseases.

Several volunteer doctors, nurses, men, women and youths from Nigeria and abroad assisted in the care of the children at the Orphanages. Primary and nursery education are availed the children. The Guardian Angel Motherless Babies (GAMB) Home was also in year 2007, expanded with the completion of three floors to create ample accommodation for the children and their care givers.

The two Orphanages run by Sisters of the Daughters of Mary Mother of Mercy (DMMM) congregation care for orphans, abandoned and disowned children who are given love, affection, nurture, care and hope for a better future.

The Homes are strengthened to admit and care for more children in order to prevent children from growing up in the streets without the kind love of their biological or surrogate mothers, and thus preserve the dignity of the human person.
