Report on Holy Family Sisters Visit to Ukamaka Cottage Hospital and Primary Health Care Centre, Akpakumenze

Introduction:
On the 15th of November 2023, a delegation from the Holy Family Sisters Nekede, led by CIDJAP Founding Director Msgr. Prof. Obiora Ike highly represented by the Deputy Director Rev. Fr. Paul Chidiebere Ani and CIDJAP Projects Manager David Ikenna, visited the Ukamaka Cottage Hospital and Primary Health Care in Akpakumenze. The purpose of the visit was to assess the healthcare facilities, strengthen partnerships, and explore opportunities for collaborative initiatives aimed at enhancing healthcare delivery in the community.

Delegation:
Msgr. Prof. Obiora Ike ably represented by Rev. Fr. Paul Chidiebere Ani (CIDJAP Deputy Director): Led the delegation and provided spiritual guidance during the visit. Fr. Chidiebere Ani also Co-ordinated the visit and facilitated discussions with the community.

Other Members of the Holy Family Sisters: The delegation included other members of the Holy Family Sisters, each contributing their expertise in various aspects of community development and healthcare.

Activities:

  1. Welcome and Introduction: The delegation was warmly received by the community stakeholders and community leaders of Akpakumenze. A brief introduction by Rev. Fr. Paul Chidiebere Ani highlighted the purpose of the visit and the commitment of Msgr. Prof. Obiora Ike and CIDJAP to supporting healthcare initiatives in the community.
  2. Tour of Facilities: A comprehensive tour of the hospital and primary healthcare facilities was conducted. The delegation observed the rehabilitated existing infrastructure, medical equipment, and the overall condition of the facilities.
