Report on Project Presentation of VTTC 2025 Trainees

The Vocational Technical Training Centre (VTTC), Olu Aka Di Mma, Enugu, held its annual Project Presentation on July 30, 2025, marking a significant milestone for trainees who had completed their practical training programmes. The event served as a platform for participants to display their creativity, craftsmanship, and problem-solving skills, while also providing an opportunity for assessment by experts and encouragement from family and community stakeholders.

The occasion began with an opening Mass led by Rev. Fr. Chidiebere Paul Ani, followed by welcome remarks from Mr. Samuel Odoh, VTTC Coordinator. Distinguished guests in attendance included CIDJAP executive management, VTTC instructors, coordinators of Sisters-Led Youth Initiatives, and family members of the trainees.

Highlights of the Presentations:

  • Electrical Installation Trainees (Group 1) presented a remote control switch, designed to enhance convenience, safety, and energy efficiency in homes and industries through wireless connectivity and simple installation.

  • Electrical Installation Trainees (Group 2) showcased an automatic change-over system with generator auto-off, a project focused on seamless power transfer and energy management for households and businesses.

  • Fabrication and Welding Trainees fabricated an upgraded multi-purpose cooker, capable of cooking, baking, roasting, and more, using charcoal or firewood. The design offers a healthier and more efficient solution for both home and commercial use.

  • Automobile Engineering Trainees worked on the vehicle cooling system, demonstrating how effective cooling prevents engine overheating, preserves vital components, and ensures optimal performance across different driving conditions.

Judges assessed each project on creativity, technical skill, relevance, and quality of presentation, with practical demonstrations further validating the functionality of the innovations.

Special Recognition:

A notable highlight of the day was the presentation of starter packs and certificates to six trainees, who were trained in partnership between VTTC and the Nigerian Conference of Women Religious (NCWR) Sisters-Led Youth Initiative (SLYI). This act underscored the shared commitment to empowering young people through skill acquisition and vocational training.

  • Trainees demonstrated strong technical expertise, teamwork, and innovation.
